GEOMUN FANTASIA
이 프로젝트는 제주도 거문오름의 강인한 생명력과 순환하는 자연, 빛나는 초록에서 영감을 얻어 시작된 작업입니다. 오름의 나무들은 흙이 풍부하지 않아 바위를 기둥삼아 땅 아래로 물을 찾아 뿌리를 내리는데, 그렇게 자리잡은 뿌리들은 종국에 바위와 하나가 됩니다. 그리고 땅 아래로 뻗어 내린 뿌리들은 화산동굴 석주의 축이 되어 동굴숲을 형성합니다.
"거문 판타지아" 프로젝트는 오름에 대한 기록과 사유를 담은 생태맵 을 출판하는데에 목표를 둡니다. 나아가 시각적 작업 뿐만 아니라 시간과 공간을 체험할 수 있는 종합예술공간을 실현하고자 합니다.
아트북 < 곶/GOTJAWAL >은 이 프로젝트의 일환으로 거문오름에서 물의 순환을 담은 책입니다.
This project was started with inspiration from the strong vitality, circulating nature, and glowing greenery of Geomunoreum on Jeju Island. The trees of Oreum are not rich in soil, so they use rocks as pillars to search for water underneath the ground and root out roots, which eventually become one with the rocks. And the roots that extend below the ground become the axis of volcanic cave stone pillars, forming a cave forest.
"The Geomun Fantasia Project" aims to publish an ecological map containing records and thoughts on the oreum. Furthermore, we want to realize a comprehensive art space where you can experience time and space as well as visual work.
The Art Book < Got/GOTJAWAL > is a book about the circulation of water in Geomunoreum as part of this project.

곶/GOTJAWAL
한라산 기슭의 기생화산, 거문오름에서 영감을 받아 시작 된 작업이다.
제주도의 어지럽게 우거진 숲을 뜻하는 곶자왈의 ‘곶’을 타이틀로 한 이번 아트북은 지상의 푸르른 숲 부터 땅 아래 깊은 동굴 속 호수까지 이어지는 과정을 이야기한다. 거문오름 숲에 비가 내리면, 빗물이 바위 아래로 뻗은 나무뿌리를 타고 내려가, 한방울 한방울 쌓여 동굴의 석주가 되고, 땅 아래 또 다른 물웅덩이를 형성한다. 억겁의 시간동안 자연의 순리로 만들어진 또 다른 우주를 딛고 수많은 생명들이 살아 숨쉬고 죽고, 또 태어나고 우리도 그렇게 살아 남아 왔다. 어찌보면 당연한 자연의 이치지만 그 과정은 신비롭고 아름답다. 아트북 < 곶/GOTJAWAL >은 그 순간과 과정을 담았다.
It is Inspired by the forests of Jeju Island, a volcanic island. Gotjawal is a Jeju dialect meaning “forest of chaos”. This book talks about the process from the green forests on the ground to the lakes in caves deep underneath the ground. Over the course of a few hundred million hours, countless lives have survived and died, and they have been born again and again. While it may seem natural, the process is mysterious and beautiful. The Art Book contains those moment and process. It is bound to unfold in a circular format to express the cycle of nature. (A limited edition of 110 copies)
